We decided to come here as we just had the boys and they had requested they wanted to see planes, Dra has been a few times already with his Dad and Grandparents, but I figured as it’s FREE and they both love all things planes and army oriented we’d give it a go.

I always take a packed lunch when we go out, purely because it can end up being our biggest expense in a day out. So I honestly have no idea on the prices for the cafe located on sight. The gift shop is very expensive though this is located in one of the hangers along with a little place to get a cuppa.

It’s free to visit you just have to pay parking which is around £6 all day I think. You can pay with either card or change and they’re open daily from 10am – 4pm. You can easily spend several hours here, and the whole place is pretty much accessible all except one small bit of road between hangers, there’s a speed bump which creates quite a steep drop, otherwise everywhere is flat and accessible.
The boys love running around all the planes, and looking at all the RAF memorabilia. It’s fascinating for all ages to be honest to learn about the planes, machinery and wars.

It’s a really nice day out and one of those great days when the weather isn’t on side, they also do an air show every year which you do need to buy tickets for, we haven’t managed to attend as of yet so I’ll be popping it on the calendar for next year.
I love coming here and getting some great up close shots of the planes engines, wheels, bolts etc. You can find my photographs of this over at FututreMrsHalpin
